Fortnight for Freedom

Today in the United States the Catholic community is beginning the "Fortnight for Freedom." The next two weeks are ment to be of prayer and reflection regarding the Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandate. This mandate is requiring that all employers provide contraception, sterilization, and abortification drugs in there health plans. This violates the core of Catholic teaching. After disapproval from the Catholic community the federal government made a compromise that is hardly adequate or reasonable. It redefines what a religious institution is and does nothing to combat the issue. That is why the USCCB has called for this movement. It is to show our leaders that religion doesn't make us second class, and our constitution requires us to have better.

I have included below some videos that may better explain the current situation.

Wednesday of the 11th Week of Ordinary Time

In today's Gospel we hear about how to pray. We are told not to pray as the hypocrites do, in a public obvious manner, but much rather we are told to pray in secret to a God who answers in secret. This Gospel reminds us why do we choose to be Christian. Are we following God because of what we want other people to think of us, or are we Christian for more personal of a reason, to truly honor God because that is what we want to do. It also shows that we do not need to prove ourselves to society. We don't have to have the biggest house, or the newest car. We don't have to have the best clothes, or to be the talk of the street. All we have to do is make God happy by serving him and his people through every act we do. In conclusion, reevaluate yourself, look deep within and ask yourself if what you are doing on this earth truly satisfies God.

Deus Caritas Est

This is my first blog post. For my blog I chose the name Deus Caritas Est, latin for God is Love. The reason I chose this as my title is because it is arguably one of the most important verses in the Bible. It tells us that God is not of this world, not a part of this planet, but much rather that he is Love. Love means to will the good of the other. If we try to imitate God, or if we try to become part of God we end up being part of this idea of Love or willing the good. This is the essence of God's teaching for the world through his only son. If we follow this idea correctly, we are putting ourselves on the path to the beatific vision where reigns the great and good God, who blesses us so abundantly this day, indeed everyday.

The goal of this blog is to embody Bl. John Paul's New Evangelization. It is to offer insight from my life and the world from a distinctively Catholic perspective. I hope you will enjoy following me and  possibly you may be able to understand the world from a slightly different point of view.

With prayerful best wishes, I remain,

Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus,

H.M. Noack
